How to Find People in the Navy

Searching for a person is at times a daunting task but it is good to know that it can be done. To search for a person that is in active duty in the Navy, the US Navy website has a World Wide Locator service to call or write in order to help in searching to find others that serving in the navy. The search has to be for official business purposes only however families, those that are on active duty in the military and those that have retired are allowed to use the World Wide locator.

Find the individual's full name, their ranks, and social security number if you have it on hand.

Call the Navy Locator service at 1-877-414-5359 or commercial 1-901-874-3388, DSN 882-3388.

Write directly to the Navy locator by sending a request to Navy World Wide Locator. Sent it to the Navy World Wide Locator, Navy Personnel Command, PERS 312F, 5720 Integrity Drive, Millington, TN 38055-3120

Remember that the locator service is not able provide any information on retired personnel however they will be able to forward a letter to them for a small fee.

Tips & Warnings
If you have information on which base the individual is being stationed then they can be contacted by the Navy locator and they may be able to provide a phone number of the individual.
The Navy has stated that they do not keep track of individuals who have left the military. Keep in mind the individual may have served a term and then is discharged of they stay in for more than one term and then is discharged from the Navy. The individual may still be in the locator so it is best to send a correspondence letter to the address provided.
